What are Fusion Extensions?
Fusion hair extensions, also recognized as prebonded, keratin, K-tip, or flat tip extensions, stand out as a preferred hair extension method. This technique involves attaching individual strands of extension hair to your natural hair with keratin-based glue. Each strand is finished with a keratin glue tip, crafted to form a durable and lasting bond with your natural hair. Fusion extensions offer a highly natural appearance and blend seamlessly with your hair. Below is a concise overview of these extensions and guidance on their application:
How to apply fusion keratin tips extensions?
-
Section the Hair: Start by parting your hair into sections. Begin at the bottom, leaving a small portion of hair at the nape of your neck free.
-
Prepare the Extension: Select a small strand of the fusion hair extension, equipped with a keratin tip at one end.
-
Bonding Process: Use a fusion heat connector tool to warm the keratin tip, then wrap it around a section of your natural hair. The heat will melt the keratin, allowing it to bond with your hair.
-
Secure the Bond: As the keratin cools and solidifies, it forms a strong bond that securely attaches the extension to your natural hair.
-
Repeat the Process: Proceed with this method, moving upwards on the head to ensure the extensions are evenly distributed, achieving a full and natural appearance.
-
Styling: After all extensions have been applied, they can be trimmed, styled, or coloured to seamlessly integrate with your natural hair.
Fusion hair extensions are celebrated for their longevity and flawless integration, providing an ideal option for individuals desiring enduring volume and length. The application process demands meticulous attention and is generally carried out by a professional hairstylist to guarantee superior outcomes and to mitigate any potential harm to your natural hair.
Dos & Donts of Hair fusion keratin tips extensions
Here are the dos & donts of taking care of your fusion hair extensions!
Here's what you should do:
- Ensure these extensions are installed by a professional hairstylist with extensive experience and training in installing them. Correct installation is vital for a positive and safe experience with fusion extensions.
- Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo twice on the same day before getting fusion extensions installed. Avoid using any conditioner or moisturizing products on your hair.
- Wait 48 to 72 hours after the fusion extensions are installed before washing your hair.
- Regularly brush your extensions with a detangling brush, particularly before showering and before going to bed, to prevent matting and tangling. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
- Limit washing your fusion extensions to no more than twice a week, using high-quality, gentle, and hydrating hair care products that are free from sulfates and alcohol.
- Be cautious of the water pressure in the shower to avoid pulling on the extensions.
- Always use a heat protectant spray before styling your fusion extensions to minimize heat damage by protecting the hair's outer layer.
- Apply shampoo in a downward motion, avoiding scrubbing the bonds.
- Braid your hair into two side braids or a single larger one at bedtime to prevent tangling and matting at the root area. Sleep on a satin pillow to further prevent tangling.
Here's what you shouldn't do:
- Avoid washing your hair for 48 hours after the extensions have been installed.
- Do not apply shampoo directly to the bonds and avoid applying conditioner on the bonds. Refrain from using oils and serums on the roots of your extensions; apply them only to the midshaft and ends.
- Steer clear of anti-dandruff shampoos as they can damage the bonds.
- Do not wash your hair while it's flipped upside down.
- Don't overwash your hair extensions.
- Never use hair oils or conditioners on your scalp as this could cause the extensions to slip.
- Avoid brushing the extensions at the roots.
- Do not use heat styling tools near the bonds.
- Never go to bed with wet hair extensions; ensure both the hair and the bonds are dry to prevent matting.
- Avoid using heat styling tools on your fusion extensions as much as possible, and when necessary, use the lowest temperature setting.
- Do not tie your hair too tightly as it can pull on the extensions and potentially cause them to slip out.
- Avoid swimming in salt water and chlorinated pools, and if you must swim, always wear a swim cap.
- We advise against altering the hair colour of the extensions & wigs. Since these are not virgin hair but have been processed, dyeing, toning, or using purple/blue shampoos may degrade the quality. We consider purple/blue shampoos as hair dye since they alter blonde hair tones. Any modifications to our products will not be eligible for refund or replacement. If the colour isn’t to your satisfaction, please follow our return policy for a full refund. Should you decide to dye the extensions, avoid bleaching and test on a single weft first. Dyeing your hair extensions is at your own risk and precludes returns.
