Choosing the right hair salon for a cut and color is important. But keep in mind that you also need to follow a guideline so that your hairdresser clearly understands what you want exactly. You may be making one of these mistakes that can ruin your hair!
Mistake #1 – Lying to your hairdresser
If you cheated on your colorist or hairdresser, that’s fine. Your hairdresser should know that things like that happen and it’s nothing personal.
Be completely honest with your hairdresser. Your hair’s history is important especially when you’re going in for a color.
If there’s already color in your hair or it has been chemically straightened, your hairdresser or colorist needs to know. At all times, be sure to never tell one of these 4 lies to your hairdresser.
Mistake # 2 – Not bringing pictures of the hairstyle you DON’T want
We all show pictures to our hairdresser of what we’re looking for exactly. You know what else can help your hairdresser? A picture of a hairstyle you don’t want. This gives a precise idea of how you want the end result to look like.
Mistake # 3 – Not booking a consultation in advance
It’s important to book a consultation in advance if you want to try a hairstyle that’s dramatically different or if it’s your first time at a new hair salon. Your hairdresser will be ready and you’ll know approximately how long the process will take. The last thing you want is to make brunch plans, only to realize halfway through that your appointment is going to take two more hours than you thought.
Mistake #4 – Showing up late to your appointment
This is the worst thing to do. Your hairdresser might even secretly hate you if you come in late. Try the best you can to never be late. The reason? If you’re drastically late, it can screw up your stylist’s schedule for the day, meaning he or she will be forced to rush both your appointment and other clients’ too. Plus, the fate of your hair literally rests in this person’s hands. Do you really want your stylist mad at you? We’re guessing probably not.
Mistake # 5 – Saying you love your new color when you don’t
If you do this, you’re a very nice person… but a little bit too nice! You need to be fully honest with your colorist if you dislike the color or if this isn’t what you asked for. You’re the customer and you have the right to receive the color you asked for.
BONUS – Not tipping your hairdresser
So, what happens if you don’t tip your hairdresser?
