When you visit a hair salon, please be honest with your hairdresser. By being truthful to your hairdresser, you have more chances of being satisfied with the work she’ll do. These are 4 lies you should never tell your hairdresser.
I only let professionals color my hair
Let us clarify one thing: buying hair dye products from your local drugstore and then applying them yourself in your bathroom doesn’t make you a professional. The products you buy from drugstore are not the same ones found in professional hair salons. This lie can make the difference between beautiful hair that you’ll love and damaged & green hair that you’ll hate.
I blowdry and style my hair everyday
Are you really sure that you blowdry and style your hair everyday? Your hairdresser might give you a haircut that will require you to do exactly just that. If you cannot commit to this, your hair will not look right and might even be a mess. If you prefer to naturally dry your hair, let your hairdresser know that you want a “wash and wear” hairstyle.
There is no color in my hair
Although this could be an honest mistake from your end, especially if you are unaware of how fast hair grow, several clients will lie to their hairdresser. They will incorrectly think that there is no color in their hair because it was a long time ago so it doesn’t matter anymore. This is false. Let your hairdresser know about your full color history for the last 3 years.
I can maintain any haircut or color
You need to be absolutely sure that you can indeed maintain specific haircut and colors. Some hairstyles require you to visit the hair salon every other week for trims or retouches. If you feel that you cannot commit to specific instructions from your hairdresser on how to maintain your hairstyle, then choose a different hairstyle.
Bonus #1 I didn’t visit another hairdresser
Yes, it can be awkward having to inform your hairdresser that you cheated on her. Even though this can be an uncomfortable situation, you need to be honest with your hairdresser. She needs to know everything before proceeding with your hair. Don’t worry, this is not enough for your hairdresser to secretly hate you.
Bonus #2 I did not cut my own bangs
Don’t you even dare with this lie. Your hairdresser will catch this lie quickly.
